Your Questions, Answered
-
A menopause assessment is a one-on-one appointment with Nicole Paiva, Family Nurse Practitioner. Together, you'll discuss your symptoms, medical history, lifestyle, and concerns. The goal is to better understand what you're experiencing and explore treatment options that may be right for you.
-
Perimenopause is the transition leading up to menopause. During this time, hormone levels begin to change, and many women start experiencing symptoms even though they are still having menstrual periods.
Menopause is confirmed after you've gone 12 consecutive months without a menstrual period.
-
Every woman experiences menopause differently. Common symptoms include:
• Hot flashes and night sweats
• Brain fog and difficulty concentrating
• Anxiety or mood changes
• Poor sleep
• Fatigue
• Irregular periods
• Low libido
• Vaginal dryness
• Joint aches
• Weight changes
If you're experiencing symptoms that are affecting your daily life, it's worth having a conversation.
-
Many menopause symptoms can also be caused by other health conditions. A menopause assessment helps determine whether hormonal changes may be contributing to what you're experiencing and whether additional evaluation or treatment is appropriate.
-
Treatment depends on your symptoms, medical history, and personal preferences. During your appointment, Nicole will discuss the options available and help you decide what approach best fits your needs.
-
No. You can book directly with Nicole without a referral.
-
Appointment lengths vary depending on your needs. Your first visit allows time to review your health history, discuss your symptoms, answer your questions, and develop a plan together.
-
Not necessarily. Hormone therapy can be very effective for many women, but it isn't the right choice for everyone. Nicole will review your health history and discuss the benefits, risks, and alternatives so you can make an informed decision.
-
Absolutely. Many women seek care during perimenopause, when symptoms first begin. You don't need to know exactly where you are in the menopause transition before booking an appointment.
